Infant Massage Course

 (3-week course, 1-week apart: 10/6, 10/13, 10/20 from 10-11 AM)

The Infant Massage courses by Mind Body Family are based on the curriculum taught by the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). At Mind Body Family, our courses are designed to help parents better understand their baby, learn how to read and respect their baby’s cues, and to enhance the connection between infants and their parents. In addition to learning the actual IAIM massage strokes, parents will also learn about behavioral states, infant cues, Gentle Movements (vital for an infant’s development, especially the connection between brain hemispheres), newborn reflexes, a special “Gas and Colic Routine”, and research-based facts about Infant Massage. Please visit our Infant Massage page for more information.

Cost: $150

Registration required: This course is being held at JW Tumbles in Arlington. Please register directly through the JW Tumbles Arlington Website:

Gas & Colic Workshop

One of the most common things we hear from parents is that their baby is having issues with gas, reflux, constipation, and/or colic symptoms. Infant Massage can be an extremely useful tool to help relieve your baby’s pain and discomfort. Our Gas and Colic Routine is taught as part of our Infant Massage course, however due to the strong demand for this particular section of the course we have decided to break it out as its own unit and teach parents the Gas and Colic Routine in a workshop format.

The Gas and Colic Workshop is 1.5 hours long and can be attended with or without your infant. While some parents like to bring their babies and learn/practice the strokes on their actual baby, other parents find that it is easier (and less distracting) to attend the workshop without their infant and learn the strokes on the massage doll (provided in class). Either option is fine with us – the decision is up to you.

Cost: $75

Infant Massage Course

 (4 classes, 1-week apart: 6/1, 6/8, 6/15, 6/22)

(Read more about the Gas and Colic Routine and the Gentle Movements below).

The 4-week group course is designed for infants that are pre-crawling. This is not because Infant Massage should stop once your baby is crawling - throughout the course we will discuss many ways in which the strokes can be modified as your child grows, and how important it is to continue a connection with your child as they grow. We set the age limit at pre-crawling because as babies get older they are often more curious and more mobile which can make the class more difficult for the parents and the baby. Mind Body Family offers private Infant Massage sessions (a 3-week course) in addition to the 4-week group class. These  Private Sessions  are recommended for parents with older children wanting to learn Infant Massage.

Sleep Coaching Workshop

Mind Body Family’s Sleep Coaching Workshop teaches parents how to examine their baby’s daily and nightly routines, and adjust and/or generate particular patterns to help create better and longer sleep.  It is very important to look at the baby’s entire routine including eating, napping, and playtime, in order to properly create an effective sleep pattern at night. Our Sleep Coaching Workshop will discuss where your baby should sleep, and how to create an environment that is comfortable, safe, and soothing for your baby. We will also discuss how to minimize crying during bedtime as well as different soothing intervals and techniques.

Our Sleep Coaching Workshop is 2 hours long (90 minute workshop followed by 30 minutes of Q&A) and is designed to be attended by parents only (no babies). Parents should consult their pediatrician prior to beginning any type of sleep coaching or training plan to ensure that it is appropriate for their baby to sleep for long stretches at night.
